All which enters into our body, including visual and emotional information, is eventually processed by our body.
We not only feed ourselves physically, we also feed ourselves with the words we hear and the sights we see. We process our experiences through our thoughts and emotions. When those experiences remain unprocessed, they may contribute to stress. We may journal, or share our experiences with a friend our counselor. We still need to take care of our physical selves. For those who don’t excercise: if we’re busy, or feeling tired, how can we even consider physical excercise? With proper introduction, and proper routine— such as going for walk every other day— it is important to stick to it. All to often, the short walk to the car or bus stop is the most movement one may get. Compared to how much we needed to move before the advent of car culture, it is no wonder that we are building up stress in our bodies. Another way of releasing physical stress from the body is through body work. Some people enjoy going to a professional chiropractor or massage therapist, while others may enjoy yoga classes, or just stretching out at home. No matter how much you work your muscles, you need to be good to yourself. Sometimes even the littlest gestures feel good— for example, take your fingers and rub your opposite hand, relaxing the muscles in your fingers for a few minutes. You can do this in less than a few minutes, and it can go a long way. Learn more about what you can do to take care of your physical self. Create a plan that works for you. |
