Spiritual self can be as simple as your time with your self.

Spiritual self may include your religious practice. It may be experienced through the books you read and the things you think about and feel. It may also be as simple as taking 15 minutes in the morning to be with yourself over a cup of tea or coffee.  Simply put, it is your time to be with your inner self.

When we listen to the impulses and feelings we have within, we call this meditation.
We hear this word oftten and in various contexts.  What exactly is meditation?

According to Glenn R. Schiraldi in “The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Sourcebook”:

Meditation may be thought of as awareness of our true, happy nature. We do not need to get rid of fear; we only need to be aware of love and compassion. We need not flee pain, but notice it with full awareness. As we penetrate pain with peace and acceptance- not with fear or avoidance- we find the pain lessens. Thus, we can be comfortable in any situation with full awareness, knowing that avoidance degrades consciousness and erodes physical and mental health.

Meditative practice has been recorded throughout history. Modern science has shown that meditation measurably calms the brain and reduces arousal. At the same time, it leads to heightened concentration, efficeiency, job performance, health, and life satisfaction. And, it can be practiced independent of lifestyle or philosophy.
