Here is Jim Northrup of the Fon du Lac band in Northern Minnesota with his Eagle Staff. The Northrup Family Eagle Staff is brought to every Veterans' Powwow they attend; it is placed with staffs from other families after the Grand Entry. The row of Eagle Staffs can be seen during the entire Powwow.

When it is at home, it has its place beside Jim's desk. He had told me during this visit that he had just given one of the feathers to a soldier who had returned from Iraq, for his battle with PTSD.
